Call for Board of Director Nominations

Co-op members have the opportunity to nominate candidates for the Board of Directors, vote in Director elections, run for election as a Director, and participate in the Annual General Meeting.

Eligibility Requirements

To run for a Director position, you must:

• Be a member in good standing
• Spend a minimum of $1,500 annually with New Horizon Co-op
• Reside within the New Horizon Co-op trading area

Nomination forms must be signed by the actual membership holder (not a spouse or child).

Candidates will provide a short oral presentation at the AGM prior to the election.

Serving on the Board of Directors

Board activities are vital to the membership and are conducted with transparency and accountability. Directors are expected to actively participate in governance and support the Co-op’s success.

Director Responsibilities

• Attend 9 regular board meetings annually, as well as any special meetings
• Serve on board committees when required
• Participate in board training and development sessions
• Represent New Horizon Co-op at Co-op events such as:

o Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) Annual Meeting
o Regional and district meetings

• • • Support the Co-op through membership purchases when possible

Meeting Details

• Meetings are typically held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month
• Start times are 3:00 PM or 5:00 PM
• Meetings are held at the Resource Office in Grande Prairie
• Meetings typically last up to three hours
• Directors may attend in person or virtually

Term Length

• Three-year term

Time Commitment

Directors should expect to devote approximately 12 days per year to meetings, training, and Co-op events.

Director Compensation

Directors receive per diem and rate payments aligned with FCL guidelines, which are approved annually by the membership at the AGM.
